The Good Book Club was founded March 1998 in Houston, Texas.
August 1998, the GBC launched a web site

and opened its membership to the
World Wide Web Community.
In 2000, the GBC partnered with Page Turner Network
and became a charter member of the
African American Book Club Summit.
The AABCS is a national historical event which
create an alliance between book clubs, authors, avid readers and independent booksellers.
GBC of Oakland, California was formed in 2000.
GBC of Highlands Ranch, Colorado was formed in 2001.
GBC of Austin, Texas was formed in 2002.
